Week 2: Brainstorming

Here are  some of my brainstorming notes I took after watching last years videos

- opening will be in a grocery store
- several different types of shots
- close up shot
- two actors
- no narration
- add a music element
- have a steady camera

Video 1: Rise
It's about a boy who plays soccer, the music adds a more intense dynamic to the video. The various camera angles and cuts add to this ass well. We see a mysterious character watching the boy practice and the ending of the opening foreshadows maybe an altercation, good or bad, between the two.

Video 2: Dear Lover
The concept of the idea is really good! However the quality of the narration bothered me a lot. It was very muffled and sounded unprofessional. What also bothered me was how each scene was edited or shot with a different filter, meaning, at the lake it was very clear and bright, but in the office it was very dim and low quality. Besides that, it did leave me wanting to find out what had happened next.

Video 3: Dare To Thrill
To me, it seemed more like a short film, not an opening. The acting was very good and the way they were able to film driving on a road was impressive. I liked how they filmed from both close up and wide.

Video 4: White Coat
Wow! This was the best one I've seen so far! The parallelism was presented wonderfully and the whole time it made made me feel as though I was creeping through a scary laboratory. The background music made the creepy effect even better. The ending was perfect because it left me wanting to go on and finish the movie.

Video 5: Lost & Found
The opening credits were smartly placed and I liked the use of colors. However there was no build up and its not clear as to what the movie will be about. It could be made into something really good, but I feel like it could have gone any direction.

Summary:
These videos helped me get many ideas for my opening and made me very excited to start filming. I was able to gather a lot of things not to do in my film. Working by myself also will help me because I can bring all elements of my ideas into the film.
